针灸学是中国传统医学的重要组成部分，以****的整体观为基础，以经络腧穴理论为指导，运用针具与艾叶等主要工具和材料，通过刺入、薰灼等方法刺激身体特定部位，以调节人体平衡状态而达到保健和**的传统知识与实践。为了满足针灸国际教学，促进针灸学术交流，提高针灸临床**，扩大针灸国际传播，推动针灸规范化、现代化、国际化，在美国、澳大利亚、加拿大等**的针灸学者的建议下，中国中医科学院程莘农传承工作室组成专家团队对《中国针灸学》进行了修订。对穴位的定位和命名，按照2008年世界卫生组织西太平洋地区《针灸经穴定位》标准，进行了修订和统一。
