Each stage of development in Chinese and western paintingsoccurred at different times and in a different order. The development ofeach stage of either one witnessed overlapping phenomena but both ofthem experienced four stages i.e. rock paintings, paintings on objectssuch as pottery and handicrafts, religious mural paintings andindependent individual paintings. In 1879 cave paintings were lound which were done by people 12,000 to 18,000 years ago during the Palaeolithic Age in Altamira Cave near the northern coat of Spain.In the paintings are images of different animals such as bison,reindeer and horses that are in different poses standing,lying and kneeling down.
